Every once in a while, I find a recording, and my mood and perhaps millions of other things are in tune, and I achieve a degree of satisfaction listening to my system that leaves me in tears. The other day I retubed my MET1*, installing new M8080s in the 3 fronts and moving that old trio to the other-3 channels. The old tubes have about 3 years...maybe 2000 hours...on them but the preamp still sounded fine to my old tin ears. Put the Channel Classics SACD of Ivan Fisher's Rachmaninoff 2nd symphony (CCS SA 21604)** and got goosebumps quickly and often. By the end I had tears in my eyes. I think I've never heard a recording and my system sound so real and satisfying. I thank you for your contribution to those kinds of experiences.
